Logan Young has played third base and outfield in coed community baseball leagues since age 5.

She is now a freshman at Bloomington South High School in Bloomington, IL and according to Indiana High School Athletic Association rules, girls are not allowed to play baseball if a school has a softball team.

Four days after her parents filed a lawsuit to allow her to try out, Blake Ress, the IHSAA Commissioner, sent Bloomington South a waiver to allow here to try out.

As a father of 2 wonderful little girls, I am quite interested in how Logan fairs when tryouts begin March 23rd. Good luck Logan!

SLUGGin Home Page Change

In an effort to make SLUGGin more than just a free batting statistics tracking tool and an all around great resource for youth, high school and college baseball, we previously included Blog feeds on those topics.

We recently became aware of spam that was being pulled over in the feeds that had nothing to do with baseball at all. Because of this we removed those feeds and will be replacing them with Scoreboard, Schedule and Players links, much like you see at Major League Baseball's site.

We apologize if you were subjected to this spam. It was never our intention to display these non-baseball related posts. Going forward, we will try to keep up with the interesting baseball related blog posts out there and bring them to your attention here at the SLUGGin Blog.
